Good Food, Festive Days & Time Together

The countdown to Christmas brings plenty to enjoy at Cobbs. Our farm shops are full of inspiration for winter cooking and festive entertaining, while our Christmas events offer lovely reasons to gather friends and family.

From seasonal vegetables and something special from the butchery to tasting days, wreath workshops, live music and magical meetings with Father Christmas, let us help you make the most of the season.

What’s in Season?

November and December call for comforting food and vegetables that deserve a place at the centre of the table. Here are some winter favourites to look out for, with availability changing throughout the season:

  • Brussels sprouts: A Christmas classic! Try roasting them until golden or shredding them into a pan with butter and a little bacon.

  • Carrots and parsnips: Brilliant roasted alongside your Sunday joint, blended into warming soups or served as colourful festive sides.

  • Cobbs Potatoes: From crisp roasties to creamy mash and bubbling gratins, proper potatoes earn their place on every winter shopping list. Our Jelly Potatoes are grown for us by our friends, at Rectory Farm, Oxfordshire.

  • Winter greens: Savoy cabbage, kale and leeks bring flavour and variety to hearty suppers. Try buttery cabbage, creamy leeks or greens stirred into a warming soup.

  • Beetroot, celeriac and swede: Delicious roasted, mashed or turned into comforting dishes that make the most of winter roots.

  • Stored British apples and pears: Lovely with cheese, baked into a crumble or gently poached for an easy winter pudding.

Seasonal availability and sourcing vary, so please ask our teams what’s looking particularly good when you visit.

Give the Trimmings Their Moment

The turkey may take centre stage, but we think the vegetables deserve a little attention too.

Try roasting carrots with honey and thyme, adding mustard to creamy mashed potatoes or cooking red cabbage slowly with apple. A tray of roasted roots makes a lovely addition to a festive spread, while leftover vegetables can become tomorrow’s soup.

Good ingredients, a few simple touches and plenty to pass around the table – Christmas cooking doesn’t need to be complicated.

Something Special from the Butchery

Whether you’re planning Christmas dinner or a comforting weekend supper, our butchers are here to help you choose.

Our Online Christmas Food Orders includes award-winning free-range turkeys, dry-aged grass-fed beef, festive hams, pork, lamb, sausages, bacon and pigs in blankets. Ask our team for advice on quantities and cooking, or browse online to plan your feast.

Ordering ahead is the best way to secure your festive favourites and take another job off the Christmas list.
