Welcome to the Cobbs
community
We all face many challenges in the modern world and as we continue to navigate through these, we want to make sure that we do not lose sight of what is important to us at Cobbs.
We believe in being good to our world through supporting our local community and charitable causes as well as being committed to reduce our impact on the environment.
We have therefore made the following pledges:
· We will work with amazing charities across West Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire, and Warwickshire all of whom work to directly benefit their local communities:
· We will provide meaningful opportunities for disadvantaged individuals to get themselves into the workplace
· We will donate to locally-focused fundraising initiatives and charities in our communities
· We will continue our ongoing work to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible
Who we work with:
Ways into Work
This amazing organisation provides supported employment for disadvantaged individuals to help them find their way into a workplace.
We teamed up with Ways into Work in 2018 and we look forward to continuing our relationship.
We have some wonderful employees across our farm shops and cafés and our aim is to be able to offer more placements at each site for disadvantaged individuals.
Local Charitable Organisations
We currently support the following charities across Berkshire, Hampshire and Stratford-upon-Avon:
The Swindon Down’s Syndrome Group
We support these charities in a variety of ways:
Weekly donations of fresh produce, alongside in-store donation stations for customers who wish to contribute.
Fundraising through Cobbs events held throughout the year.
Sponsorship and support of local initiatives and community events.
Our Staff Initiative, giving team members the opportunity to volunteer with our partner charities — stepping away from their day-to-day roles to provide hands-on support in places like drop-in centres and soup kitchens.
Our community impact in 2025:
Ongoing weekly donations of food boxes to local charities.
Continued fundraising through events, schemes and sponsorships.
Expanding our support for Ways Into Work, offering more job placements across our farm shops and cafés for disadvantaged people.
environmental commitment
Looking after the environment is at the heart of the decisions we make.
We regularly review our processes and policies to find new ways to reduce our impact, using better materials, smarter systems and more sustainable suppliers.
We’ve made significant progress in cutting down single-use plastics and reducing non-recyclable packaging across the business — particularly on our butchery counters, where packaging is now fully recyclable or compostable wherever possible.
We continue to offer paper carrier bags, made in the UK from recycled materials, designed to be strong, reusable and a more sustainable alternative.
Working closely with local producers and suppliers not only supports our community but also helps reduce food miles and our overall carbon footprint.
We’ve invested in electric vehicles within the business, replacing a large number of miles previously driven by diesel vehicles, and we continue to expand this as we grow.
Electric car charging points are currently available at selected sites, with plans to roll these out across all locations in the future.
We also work to reduce unnecessary deliveries by carefully managing supplier schedules, helping to cut down emissions from transport.
This is an ongoing journey, and we are always looking for new ways to improve — from the products we sell to the way we run our business.
