Proud to Support the More Than Food Movement
More Than Food: Why Shopping Local Matters Now More Than Ever
Here at Cobbs, we’re proud to be part of the Farm Retail Association (FRA) – a community of like-minded businesses who believe in the power of local. That’s why we’re backing the FRA’s latest campaign, More Than Food, which shines a light on just how important farm shops, PYO sites, and farmers' markets are to the health of our communities, our environment, and the local economy.
Who are the Farm Retail Association?
The FRA (Farm Retail Association) is a UK-based organisation that supports and champions farm shops and farmers' markets, helping members grow sustainable, locally focused businesses.
The More Than Food campaign, sponsored by The EPOS Bureau, is all about showing that when you shop with your local farm retailer, you're supporting so much more than a shop. You're supporting British farmers, small producers, sustainable food practices, and local jobs – all while enjoying the freshest, seasonal produce straight from a British farm.
As costs rise, and the effects of Brexit and recent inheritance tax changes continue to hit the farming industry, the need for strong community support has never been greater. Farm shops like Cobbs offer a vital connection between growers and customers – helping to keep local food chains short, sustainable, and thriving.

We know our customers care about where their food comes from, and we’re incredibly lucky to have such a loyal community around us. At Cobbs, we’re committed to making local food accessible and enjoyable – whether you're popping into the farm shop, visiting our butchery, stopping for lunch in the café, or joining us at one of our seasonal events.
We’re not just here to sell food. We’re here to celebrate it, share it, and make sure future generations understand the value of real, seasonal produce.
As Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Patron of the FRA, puts it:
“It’s such a pleasure to bring produce back from a farm shop or farmers market, that’s been grown nearby and that comes from your local landscape. You know it is in season, it hasn’t travelled far and it’s the best it can be.”
