Falling for Autumn: What’s On at Cobbs This Season?

As the weather cools and the leaves begin to fall, our farm shops are bursting with beautiful pumpkins, just waiting to find loving homes.

Seasonal Produce

Autumn at Cobbs brings a bountiful harvest of seasonal produce, including a delightful variety of squash and pumpkins. It’s a brilliant time for British-grown ingredients—you’ll find everything from celeriac, savoy cabbage, and cauliflower to carrots, parsnips, and Hampshire grown potatoes—perfect for hearty autumn recipes.

All of our pumpkins are grown for us by Rectory Farm, a fantastic family-run farm in Oxfordshire

Seasonal Menu

In our cafés, we’re excited to launch a seasonal menu full of comforting specials to warm you up. Make sure to book your tables online, especially during half term and the busy run-up to December, to avoid disappointment.

British Game Season

It’s also British game season! Click below to read more on our blog, and don’t forget to visit our butchers to see what’s available!

Let’s Talk Pumpkins & Food Waste

Pumpkins aren’t just for carving—they’re delicious and nutritious too! Yet every Halloween, around 13 million pumpkins are carved and then thrown away. That’s a huge amount of potential food waste! Pumpkins are packed with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making them a healthy, versatile ingredient. Beyond soup, check out this great collection of ideas from HUBBUB.

We know it might seem ironic (given our carving tent!), but we’re big believers in eco-friendly ways to reuse your pumpkin after Halloween:

Pumpkin disposal ideas:

Compost It – Chop it up and compost it (or bury it in your garden).
• Grow New Pumpkins – Save the seeds and plant them in April!
• Make a Plant Pot – Use your pumpkin as a biodegradable planter.
• Use the Food Waste Bin – Add it to your regular organic waste.
• Create a Bird Feeder – Fill a halved pumpkin with seed and hang it outdoors.
• Pet Treats – Pumpkin is great for dogs and cats as a natural digestive aid.

Enjoy everything autumn has to offer—from delicious produce to cosy moments and community events.

With best wishes from all of us at Cobbs x
